I am blessed. I am also (at various times) sleep-deprived, silly, frantic, frustrated, accomplished, angry, discouraged, uplifted, desperate, enlightened, overwhelmed, baffled, resigned, mortified and inspired. Sometimes I'm several of those things in the same day. Parenting is not an easy gig. It's hard, and it takes discipline and skill and sacrifice and energy.
I'm not always particularly grateful for my blessings. Sometimes, they just feel heavy on my shoulders. Gratitude is like faith, though- it's a practice, so I'm practicing. There's always a reason to celebrate, always something for which we can be thankful, even if it is hard to see sometimes. This blog is about practicing gratitude...about finding reasons to be grateful in the midst of the mundane, daily events that make up our lives. Since our families and our homes are the first places our children learn about love and about God and about life, we try to make our home the kind of place where daily life is both sacred and celebrated. We do this by celebrating the feasts of the Christian liturgical year and various other days. Even ordinary days are gifts.
When I'm not writing here, you can find me at Blessed Is She and CatholicMom. I'm also thrilled to be a contributor to As Morning Breaks: Daily Gospel Reflections, a daily devotional which was published last fall.
I hope you'll enjoy your visit here and stick around for a while with us. I'd love to connect with you. Here's how you can reach me.
